The sun was still in the sky though very low. The object was very bright green/white, almost as vibrant as a firework. It had a defined smokey trail. It was not a firework as I saw it from a long way off and it followed a straight path overhead. As it passed over me I heard a definite sound of something moving fast through the air without propulsion. It must have been relatively low in the atmosphere given the noise. I have never seen anything of the sort.
